Chapter 12

WHEN Bo woke just before dawn, Erick was still sleeping.

It was probably for the best, Bo reasoned, because he honestly didn’t know what to say to him. He had no excuse for what he’d done last night and each explanation he tried to come up with sounded worse than the one before until he finally decided maybe it would be better if he didn’t bother trying to explain at all.

Better if he left Erick the way he’d found him.

Alone.

He tried to be as quiet as possible, but as soon as Bo tried to undo the chain on the door, a dry voice came from behind him.

“Is that really how you’re planning on handling this? Sneaking out of here in your sock feet?”

Pressing his forehead against the door, Bo muttered a heartfelt, “Shit.”

When Bo turned toward where Erick was still lying on the bed, Erick was propped up on one elbow, the sheets barely pulled up to his waist, leaving his bare chest still visible.

How Bo could still want him this much after the night before, he didn’t know. All he knew was that he did. “No. I guess not.”

“Well, good, because that would be downright rude, especially before I’ve had my morning coffee. So how about putting on a pot while I take a quick trip downstairs? Then we can talk.”

With no modesty whatsoever, Erick got out of bed, searched around for his boxers, then pulled them on. He crossed the room and gave Bo a casual kiss as he walked by on his way out the door and down to the bathroom.

Bo gave a heavy sigh. What else could he do? He zipped up his trousers and put on a pot of coffee.
